The journey itself sets the tone. As you turn off NH-8 near Gurgaon and drive toward Sohna — a region known for its lakes, hot springs, and rustic charm — the landscape slowly exhales. Traffic thins, the skyline softens, and the air grows clearer. By the time you approach the resort gates, you feel your own pulse settling, already prepared for the calm that awaits.

Where Arrival Becomes an Experience

Guests are welcomed into a chic, glass-walled reception that overlooks tranquil reflective ponds. Golf carts glide silently across the lush property, where warm red brick architecture blends seamlessly with surrounding green expanses. Designed by Australia-based architect Chandha Siemjeda, the resort embodies a refined fusion of modern sophistication and Indian warmth — understated, organic, and quietly luxurious.

The Westin Sohna offers 97 accommodations, ranging from premier rooms to stand-alone villas and a presidential suite. Each villa is generously spaced, echoing the solitude of a countryside retreat.

Our butler-led tour brought us to a beautiful cottage-style suite. A four-poster bed anchored the room, while the open-plan bath revealed a stunning tub placed beneath a glass ceiling — inviting long soaks under morning light or starlit nights. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed manicured lawns, and the private patio, complete with a hammock, encouraged a pace of life slow enough to savour.

Spaces to Wander, Breathe, and Explore

The resort unfolds like a serene landscape painting. A shimmering lake with ducks gliding lazily across its surface, cycling paths that weave through greenery, and winding nature trails create an atmosphere of effortless exploration.

For wellness seekers, the Heavenly Spa by Westin offers Ayurvedic-inspired rituals and modern therapies that restore balance deeply and meaningfully. Fitness enthusiasts can head to the Westin Workout Studio, swim laps in the pool, or join sunrise yoga sessions accompanied by birdsong.

Families will find ample ways to keep children engaged — pony rides, a petting zoo, and the dedicated Westin Kids Club ensure endless entertainment.

Flavours to Savour

Dining at The Westin Sohna is intentionally slow and soulful. At the Red Brick Room, the all-day diner, weekend brunch becomes a sensory experience with wellness-led menus, live cooking stations, and farm-fresh flavours served indoors or alfresco.

Executive Chef Pradeep Rawat curates dishes that artfully balance indulgence and nourishment — food that comforts without overwhelming, and delights without excess.

Beyond the Ordinary Retreat

The resort goes beyond traditional leisure. Guests can try horse riding, cycle through quiet countryside trails, or even experience paramotoring for an aerial view of the landscape. On clear evenings, star-gazing sessions transform the night sky into an open-air planetarium.

Fishing at the nearby Sohna Lake adds another gentle pleasure. With guidance from recreation experts, we found ourselves returning to the water’s edge both days of our stay — drawn by its meditative charm.

The Spirit of Slow Luxury

What truly distinguishes The Westin Sohna is its philosophy. As General Manager Utsa Majumder beautifully notes:

“True luxury lies in the ability to pause — to reconnect with nature, with loved ones, and with oneself.”

Whether you’re a wellness seeker craving stillness, a family creating memories, or a couple seeking quiet connection, the resort offers an escape that feels personal, immersive, and transformative.

Room for Improvement

Even in its serenity, a few aspects could be refined.

  • Room service was slower than expected
  • Air-conditioning struggled during peak summer hours
  • The pool changing rooms showed signs of poor upkeep
  • Golf cart drivers could be more courteous

These small gaps, while noticeable, didn’t overshadow the overall experience — but attention here would elevate the luxury quotient further.
